When you spawn, reload, pick up a new weapon, or switch weapons, it often makes noise that an opponent can hear, giving them the advantage of knowing where you are.

Therefore it can be useful to melee (at just the right time) when you spawn, pick up a weapon, reload, or switch weapons, as it makes no sounds that can give away your location.

i don't know how many times i've been accused of blue-walling for that very fact...

yeah seriously. people are stupiod and dont realize their weapons makes noise when they do stuff. i used that melle trick a lot but i wasnt sure if it worked or not. cus i would melle when i pick something up and it wouldnt make noise. but i wasnt sure if it was silent for me cus i melled but others could still hear the weapon or not. i guess it works then?

Mac sound is great right? Rob was telling me about this. I thought he bluewalled before (yet all Mac users are eh?) but I didn't realize how good his sound was. He fucking hears footsteps..wow.

yeah, if you have a good sound card you can hear more things. i used to have a really good sound card, i still have it infact, i just been too lazy to put it in my new comp

much of the time i play i use a PreSonus Firebox audio interface with two 5" KRK Rokit speaker monitors.

so yeah, i hear fairly well.

i hear footsteps too, if they're fairly close

May work if I do it to them, but not if they do it to me ~_~

This actaully doesn't work. Sublime and myself have tested it to see if it worked and I could always hear the reload

when i wear my 15 dollar logitech mic i hear fottsteps also. problem with the slient melee when u respawn is if your playing teamslayer u can betry your team if you both spawn at the same time has happened a lot to me = \

How can you "wear" a mic and hear footsteps at the same time?

Since I got my new comp I can do lots of things that give me an advantage. I can literally hear anyone walk around the map if I stand still with EAX(environment sound) enabled I can hear the map and when you walk or grab a weapon or melle a wall The sound pretty much echos and I can tell where you are. Its not a unfair advantage it just makes the game more enjoyable in my book. Even If I know where you are doesnt mean Ima kill you 90% of the time...it means ima kill you 97% of the time

I'm guessing EAX doesn't work well with shitty motherboard sound...

Motherboard sound is always more sucky quality.

my mic has headphones attached its an around the head one.
