BC2 is also CPU demanding due to the advanced sounds and destructible environments. Its optimized to run on a dual core.

If you have the game I suggest adding +fullproc to your target (just like you would do with -console in halo) which will force BC2 to run on all cores.

I'll add it and see if it does anything.

What frames are you getting? On what resolution, and what detail?

I mean I have almost the same level card as you...an ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO. Your quad core is the only thing that rapes my p4 along with your extra 1.5 gig of ram.

Well I haven't tried the game yet (87% downloaded) so my performance might be better then I expect.

If I can at least run it 800x640 on low with 40(avg limit)-60+ fps... I'll be satisfied.

If not, I can probably get a cpu case, mobo, Power supply, and decent quad core cpu for <$180 thanks to ebay if I really need to.

I've been trying it though and I just cant seem to like it. I guess mw2 and halo made me enjoy arcade style shooting more than realism. Probably why I hated ARMA 2.

THERE'S A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 200 and 20.

Even on the lowest res and lowest detail you couldn't topple 45 fps. On the highest res and everything high you were lucky to get 13 fps.

We're talking about moving on to a new game, but some of you don't understand how much bs this game is performance wise. Have any of you actually even loaded this game? On all high, AF x16, AAx1 and max res I get a maximum of like 11fps. On all low and lowest resolution I get a maximum of 25 fps, avg 13-17 fps. Even integraded gfx on halo performs better.

I'm on a freakin BTX machine, with a current mobo that only runs single core pentiums, video card is like 3 years old in the 2000 series, when ati is on the 5000, and my ram is still only DDr1. So upgrades are outta the question.
I'm gonna need an entire new rig, or a really packed barebone pc to play this game.
What a hassle.

With a budget of $280 you fellow xk lads can help me accomplish this dream by looking out on ebay.

Hey, I got a 25% off coupon from EA for my birthday (thanks, faceless corporation!). options are BFBC2 (my room mate has it for 360, so I would think about getting that version to play with him at home, but there are equally good arguments for PS3, or PC to play with you guys (did we end up choosing this or what?).

There is also BF1943 (eh, maybe), or I could pre-order dead space 2.

thoughts. I think the contest is between BFBC2 and Dead Space 2. Leaning toward Dead Space 2 ATM.
